Sanandaj bazaar is an old bazaar in the heart of Sanandaj

Sanandaj market is the oldest bazaar in Sanandaj, which dates back to 1046 AH. This market was built during the rule of Ardalans. It is interesting to know that at that time the city of Sanandaj was the center of Ardalan rule in Iran. This old and important bazaar is located on both sides of Inghelab Street in Sanandaj and is rectangular in shape. It is worth mentioning that the market of Sanandaj is very similar to the market of Naqsh Jahan Square in Isfahan in terms of appearance and architecture. Although business is still thriving in this market; But many consider it to be among the sights of Sanandaj and the important historical attractions of this city; As a result, visiting the Sanandaj market is both an omen and a spectacle; Because you can enjoy watching the wonders of this historical building while shopping.

 Khan bath of Sanandaj is one of the famous places in Sanandaj

Is it possible to talk about Sanandaj's sights and historical attractions without saying anything about Sanandaj's Khan bath? This bath is one of the oldest, largest and most magnificent traditional baths in Iran, which dates back to 1220 AH.  Khan bath is located right on the northern side of Sanandaj covered market. This large and traditional bath, which has become a tourist attraction today, includes different parts. Among the important parts of this bath, we can mention the entrance hall, vestibule, serbineh (cold bath), mid-door, bineh (hot bath), treasury, privacy, toilets, additional water tank, and tub. It should be noted that the name of the magnificent building of this traditional bath was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in 1378 AH.

Historical Qashlaq Bridge (Sheikh Bridge)

Qeshlaq Historical Bridge, which is also known as "Sheikh Bridge", is one of the most unique historical structures in Sanandaj, which, due to its unique location, is attractive both for lovers of historical structures and a unique destination for nature lovers. This bridge is located on a river with the same name, which is located near green and beautiful hills. The length of this bridge reaches 78 meters and its width reaches 3 meters. The height of the historic Qashlaq bridge from the river level in its highest part is about 6.8 meters. The Qeshlaq Bridge in Sanandaj was built in 1046 AH by the order of Shah Safi and by the order of Suleiman Khan Ardalan. Later, this historical monument was rebuilt and restored in different periods.

Sanandaj Church

In the past, the old neighborhood of "Agheh Zaman" in Sanandaj was a Christian neighborhood. Armenian immigrants who were exiled by the Ottoman government lived in that neighborhood. At the beginning of the Qajar period, a church was built for Armenian immigrants in Sanandaj, which today is considered one of the most important sights of Sanandaj. The notable features of this old church are its beautiful entrance hall with overlapping semi-circular rooms, entrance vestibule and nave with a curved roof. The nave of the Sanandaj church consists of 12 arches, 6 columns and a large altar, and its roof is made in the form of an arch.
